CNOOC is planning to arrange new floating production, storage and unloading tankers (FPSOs) in the South China Sea, hoping to increase offshore investment and production capacity while oil prices recover.
Industry officials say FPSO is seen as the best option to help exploit these marginal fields, and the company is considering using several new FPSOs to further develop Liuhua 11-1 and Enpingbei Oilfields by deploying a floating oil storage tanker (FSO) for Lufeng 13-1 and 13-2 oilfields.
CNOOC has completed the conceptual design of a Magnora (formerly Sevan Marine) cylindrical floating production, storage and unloading tanker (FDPSO).
